My name is Francie Robertson. I have been teaching fourth grade for 14 years. My first 12 years were spent at Pine Tree and this will be my second year at Orion Oaks. I love teaching fourth grade because I feel that my students are at the perfect age to become independent learners and develop a strong sense of responsibility.
I grew up on the West side of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. My parents and many of my family members still live there. I like to visit when I can, especially in the summer! After finishing high school, I went to Michigan State University to pursue a degree in Zoology. I earned my bachelor's degree in Zoology in 2003, my teaching certificate in 2005, and my Masters in Curriculum and Teaching in 2008 all from Michigan State. You might say that I have a deep love for Green and White! I am always looking to better what I do and provide the best educational experience for my students.
In August 2016, I received the Presidential Award of Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. It is an amazing honor to have such an incredible award! (https://www.paemst.org) Since then, I have been speaking at conferences and continuing my education through online classes, conferences and local professional development.
Finally, I have been married to my wonderful husband Brian for 9 years. He is a college math professor. We have three wonderful children; Lucy Grace will turn six in October and Eddie will be four at the end of August! We recently welcomed Genevieve Mae in June 2018. We also have a German short-hair pointer named Hal.
I look forward to working with you and your children this year! Please check out our Weebly for resources and more! :)
